The Instrument Center of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) was organized in 1982 and set up in 1989. The Center was supported by National Science Council of Taiwan and NCKU. It is dedicated to provide space and delicate, expensive instruments that cannot be afforded by individual laboratory to faculties and students from universities, research institutes, companies, and NCKU all over Taiwan. With the Center, the instrument resources can be easily concentrated and focused to accomplish the research goals according to their priority. Therefore, the redundant and unnecessary maintain expenses on instruments can also be minimized and avoided.

The Center is located on the Research Building at NCKU and run by the director, one secretary, and fourteen technicians whose responsibility is to manage and maintain nineteen research equipments. The center owns three solution and one solid state NMR spectrometers, five electron microscopes, four mass spectrometers, three elemental analyzers, one helium liquefier system, one X-ray diffractometer, one ion implantation system, one glow discharge system, and two electron spectrometry. To make sure the Instrument Center functions properly and performs well, all instruments were supervised by professors appointed by NCKU.
