The student association hosts annual welcome party (dance, BBQ and camping trip), Christmas party, sports competition between earth science departments, Earth Science Week (year-end party, casserole party) and other fun activities. In addition, students continue to maintain the tens of years old tradition of the organization of the Earth Science Fair (every November, during the universitys anniversary) and produce departmental newsletters. A busy year is often marked by graduate students as well.
Many graduate students host seminars to exchange book reports or present research achievements. In addition, they also attend domestic or international academic conferences to present their papers and often win student awards. Every year, a number of students will travel abroad for experimental works or short to long term studies at recognized institutions. |
