History

 The Department is on the first floor underground with around a kitchen of 385 pings and an employee restaurant of 400 pings (it was transferred to the Outsourcing Team of the Hospital to be redesigned as an underground area on January 1, 2004).  In accordance with the forty-month long construction of the medical center, the Department started recruiting employees from March 1, 1988 and formal operations started on June 12, 1988.  We have currently one Director, eight dietitians, three administration employees, twelve janitors/technicians and thirteen contract workers making a total of 24 formal employees by the end of Dec. 2005.

 

Purposes

   A: Clinical nutrition care service

        1. nutrition assessment, nutrition therapy  

           and handling of nutrition related problems

           of hospitalized patients

        2. health education beside the beds

        3. group health education in wards

        4. nutrition consultation at outpatient

           services

        5. group health education at outpatient

           services

 

   B: Food service for hospitalized patients

        1. general diet

        2. therapeutic diets

        3. tube feeding diets

 

   C: Community service

        1. nutrition lectures and activities for

           patient groups

        2. nutrition and health activities / lectures

           for the community for employees

 

   D: Education and research

        1. research on food service

        2. holding trainings for diet professionals

           and internship personnel

        3. internship training of students from

           nutrition related departments of local  

           colleges

        4. research and analysis of clinical

           nutrition service

        5. holding academic conferences on nutrition
