NCKU provides free Chinese language courses (Chinese Classes for Foreign Students, CFS) which last at least one academic year. The courses provided are 3 hours a week and equal 6 credits in an academic year. New students are eligible to apply and seniors are subjected to availability. NCKU offers courses at the beginning, basic, intermediate, and advanced levels for International Students working toward a degree. The classes are offered in different levels to suit each student's needs. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to learn Chinese well and to acquire an in-depth understanding of the local culture!
Step 1. Please make sure that you are eligible to apply as an international student.Step 2. Check that the departments/ institutes you intend to apply to are open to international students in the Fall 2010 admission or Spring 2011 admission.
Step 3. Prepare all the required documents.
Step 4. Check whether the intended departments/institutes require extra required documents or will arrange interviews/tests; the interviews/tests period may be held around April 2010 (for Fall Semester admission) and November 2010 (for Spring Semester admission).
Step 5. Choose one way to apply
- UPLOAD (preferable): Register and complete the online application on the admission website "NCKU International Online System" http://admissions.oia.ncku.edu.tw to get the application serial number for uploading all the supporting documents/electronics(refer to Steps 3 & 4) and TaiwanICDF Online Application System (http://www.icdf.org.tw/TSP/Welcome.aspx), and print out the application form and all the required forms before the deadline.
- MAIL: If you cannot upload all the required documents (refer to Steps 3 & 4), please also register online and complete/print out the application form from "NCKU International Online System" http://admissions.oia.ncku.edu.tw to get the application serial application number for printing the application form, and also collect all required documents, then mail or personally deliver them to the NCKU-OIA office before the deadline. If the transcript is not in Chinese or English, a notarized copy of a translation in English or Chinese is required; transcripts from Taiwanese Universities do not need verification.

Foreign students with Bachelor's degrees are eligible for Master’s programs. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree (students graduating this year included) at universities or colleges approved by the Taiwan Ministry of Education or have equivalent credentials.
